Good Chinese Export Black Lacquer Workbox, second quarter 19th century, the elongated octagonal box gilt-brass mounted and parcel gilded in "Mandarin's Garden" decor, the upper interior fitted with a compartmented interior featuring a lacquered easel and pierced bone grilles plus several bone spools, an awl and a petal-form pin cushion, the basal edge of the facade fitted with a shallow drawer, h. 6", w. 13", d. 9-1/2".

Good Chinese Export Black Lacquer Workbox: The exterior of the box looks good. There is some damage near the hinges at the back side with some losses. Shrinkage cracks to the lid frame along the right edge and front corner. The compartmentised interior is currnetly separated and in pieces. There is damage to some components and the entire interior may be incomplete. The decor on the exterior is in very good condition and shows very little wear.
