Attractive Pair of Danish Bas-Relief Terra Cotta Plaques, of, respectively, "The Gleaners" and "The Hunter's Family", after Bertel Thorvaldsen (Danish, 1768-1844), each with the London retailer F. Ahronds and Company's printed paper label on the reverse, the former presented in a black-painted wooden frame in the neoclassical taste, the latter in a blue velvet-covered frame.
Condition reportPair of Danish Bas-Relief Terra Cotta Plaques: "The Gleaners"- black fabric frame (not wooden). The fabric is worn and partially missing and exposing a repair. the plaque is dirty and slightly discolored in 2 spots. "The Hunter's Family" - blue velvet worn and stained. Plaque stained and discolored in scattered places.
