Provincial Louis XV-Style Rosewood and Fruitwood Games Table, second quarter 19th century, the rectangular top with a central inlaid game board flanked to either side by quarter-veneered panels, hinged and opening to a baize-lined surface, the shaped apron raised on delicate cabriole legs, h. 27", w. 32-1/4", d. 16".
Condition reportProvincial Louis XV-Style Rosewood and Fruitwood Games Table: A nice, soft patina and in overall good condition. Inlaid game board has shrinkage overall with a small amount of stringing along the edge of the board lacking. The baize-lined surface shows normal wear and is padded with horse hair that can be seen now along the back hinged top. One leg has a repair at the top underside and another has an old repair to the inside of the leg that is now coming undone. Scattered shrinkage cracks especially near the hinges and at the top of the legs. Back apron has an old deep scratch and the knot on the front has fill along with a couple of veneer patches. Sturdy.
