Vernacular American Gothic Revival Pine Secretary Bookcase, mid-19th century, in two parts, the upper section with a central arch, each of the pair of doors with arched panels with a pair of drawers below, the base with a fold-out slant-lid writing surface over a molded drawer with a pair of doors below, each centered by a quatrefoil, h. 83-1/4", w. 44-1/8", d. 22-1/4".

Vernacular American Gothic Revival Pine Secretary Bookcase: In "as found" condition. Roughness to the right side with chips and losses where the top rests on the base. Repairs to the top right door at the hinges. The surface old and probably stripped at one time. Retains many old scars and imperfections from years of use, but has a good overall patina. Some loose moldings at the top. May have had a base molding along the sides which is now lacking. A rare form and overall good looking.
