U.S. Civil War rosewood flute

K-31 - Transitional type rosewood flute. Well-made in five sections, with a total of four keys. Long split in lower two sections. Maker marked "F. RILEY NEW YORK", (Frederick Riley is listed as a music instrument maker in the New York City Directory for 1843, 1845 and 1850). Entire flute, including keys, are dark from age.
