H-235 - Grouping of material related to Chester D. Fuller who served in the 27th Division WWI. Includes: (1) 27th Division "patch" - bevo embroidered "Liberty Loan" type. (2) Embroidered version of the above. Was removed from a tunic. (3) Dog tags - named. (4) Two pocket diaries - entries from Jan. 1, 1917 through Dec. 31, 1918. (5) A captured I.D. book (worthy of translation). (6) NYS WWI Service Medal. (7) U.S. Victory Medal with three Campaign Bars. (8) French Verdun Medal. (9) French Croix de Guerre with Star. (10) Nine large, six small uniform buttons. (11) Pocket mirror with case. (12) American cigarette lighter. (13) Two American Legion Medals and one 1922 Athletic Champion Medal. (14) "WELCOME HOME" 27th Division ribbon and celluloid button. (15) "Twenty Year's" cloth cap badge. (16) Lot of 8 photos of Fuller, comrades and friends. (17) Honorable Discharge - dated July 16, 1919. Entries show that Fuller took part in the engagements at "Verdun, Meuse-Argonne andSt. Mihiel". (18) Two volume set of "THE STORY OF THE 27TH DIVISION" by Major General John F. O'Ryan. A total of 1157 pp. which includes photos, a history of the Division, listing of the actions of the various components, names of those receiving U.S. foreign decorations with an explanation, a listing of divisional deaths, casualty records by unit, a rooster of officers, etc. An excellent reference source.
