French Neo-Classical Onyx Brass Porcelain Box

Description

Neo-Classical-style lidded box, onyx and champleve enamel with brass mounts and feet, and a hand-painted porcelain plaque surmounting the lid and showing figures in a landscape signed Carle at lower right, France, nineteenth century; serial numbers are etched on the underside of the brass latch. The interior is lined with cushioned white satin.

Dimensions: Approximately 5-1/2"H

Condition

Overall very good; some oxidation to brass, missing fabric trim from interior of box .
