Description
PLATINUM PATRIMONY BI-RETROGRADE DAY-DATE
VACHERON CONSTANTIN, GENÈVE, REF. 86020/000P-9345, NO. 29, MOVEMENT NO. 5149590, CASE NO. 1164551, MADE IN A LIMITED EDITION OF 100 EXAMPLES IN 2008, SOLD IN NOVEMBER 2009
Very Fine and important, large, platinum, self-winding, gentlemen’s wristwatch with platinum dial, days of the week, date, Vacheron Constantin leather strap with platinum and silk stitching, Vacheron Constantin platinum deployant buckle, original box, Certificate of Authenticity, Certificate of Origin, Certificate of Origin and Guarantee, booklets, polishing cloth and setting pin.
The watch was produced in a limited edition of 100 examples for the “Collection Excellence Platine”. As the name of the collection suggests, platinum is the essence of the watch: not only is the case made of platinum, as one might expect, but the dial is made with platinum sand-blasted finishing and, most unusual, the leather strap is hand-stitched with platinum and silk thread. The platinum and silk stitching was first used by Vacheron Constantin for their unique Malte Tourbillon made for Only Watch 2007.
The “Collection Excellence Platine” was launched in 2006 with two limited edition iconic models, the Patrimony Contemporaine and the Malte Chronograph. The collection continued in 2007 with the new Malte Tourbillon with regulator time display and the new Malte Perpetual Calendar Chronograph. The Patrimony Bi-Retrograde Day-Date was added to the collection in 2008.
The Patrimony Bi-Retrograde Day-Date features a double complication with two retrograde indications, for the days of the week and the date. The retrograde mechanism returns the hands to their start positions in less than 1/10 of a second over an arc close to 180˚. This involves a tremendous amount of force and precision, for which Vacheron Constantin chose a special, light and flexible alloy.
The movement is a new 11 ½ lignes caliber that was launched in 2005 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Vacheron Constantin. It features a power reserve of more than 40 hours, a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and an innovative ceramic ball-bearing system for the 22K gold guilloché rotor. The high standard of the movement has earned it the Seal of Geneva quality mark.
