Description
Tennessee pottery attributed to Lewis Haun. A 13" pottery jug with cobalt decorations and dated 1888. The handle is missing but otherwise in fine condition. It has been in the same family since it's beginning in the Lost Mountain section of Greene County, TN. The jug has decorated sections on each side of the date. They appear to be some type of folk flower.
A Tennessee pottery expert and collector has agreed with us on this. In comparing form and clay they also have come up with the same attribution.
The numbering on the jug appears also to be done by the same hand as the harvest jugs signed LMH. If Lewis Haun made the jugs with those initials then he made this very rare example.
