Description
A large and very detailed seated Nayarit male figure, from the west coast of Mexico, ca. 200 BC - 200 AD. Shown seated on a bench, the representation of the two rear legs in a typical hand to mouth pose. Large decorative ear spools and excellently detailed hair pulled back in a pony tail with the addition of two side locks of hair at top. The surface is nicely burnished (stone polished). The male sits nude with well-detailed leg muscles and remains of black paint. An excellent example. Manganese / dendrite deposits on the surface. 13-1/2"H.
