Description
Ca. 1st-2nd Century A.D., probably from Syria. Gorgeous mouth-blown translucent dark-blue glass pyxis with cylindrical sides and inverted rim, a thick rib running below rim and one at base; flanged cover with a knop finial. Height of pyxis: 2-3/4" (7.1cm) , Height of cover: 1-5/8" (4cm), Overall Height: 3 7/8" (9.7cm). For reference: 3000 Jahre Glaskunst, exhibition catalogue, Lucerne, 1981, p. 98, no. 369.
