Jolley Donald C ''Zion from a distance'', oil on canvas, 30'' x 40'' (Gallery artist)----- Donald C. Jolley was born in Zion National Park, Utah. He has lived in Boulder City, and Carson City, Nevada. Jolley graduated from Brigham Young University in 1959. He worked as an illustrator for the U.S. Army in Germany and with the Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo and San Bernardino, California. He has been painting full time in his home-studio in Rim Forrest in the San Bernardino mountains of Southern California since 1970. Jolley deals with environmental experiences that are sometimes representational, sometimes abstract elements, all this very much a part of the open spaces and isolation of western America. His paintings have received many local and national awards; including the 1981 National Watercolor Society “Member’s Cash Award” exhibit in the Palm Springs Desert Museum and the Tuscon Art Museum. Donal has been a featured artist in SOUTHWEST ART magazine in March 1980 and Camera Life in May 1980. Jolley is a member of the National Watercolor Society, a past Vice-President of Watercolor West, board member of the San Bernardino Fine Arts Institute, member of the Whiskey Painters of America and is listed in Who’s Who of American Art and Artists of Renown.
