Max Papart Etching "Pierrot Lunaire"

Max Papart (French, 1911-1994), "Pierrot Lunaire". 12" X 10", etching with Aquatint and Carborundum on handmade paper. Pencil signed and #18 of 75. Famous for working in the Cubist style. Max Papart, painter & master printmaker. Born in Marseille, France and later moved to Paris where is learned the techniques of classic engraving. Papart taught printmaking at the University of Paris. Papart was considered a master printmaker. It has been said that Paparts aquatints were some of the most significant prints being made in France during his era. Exhibitions and Museums include: Victoria & Albert Museum, National Gallery, Yale University, U.C.L.A., Israel Museum, & Indianapolis Museum of Art. Also included is original certificate of authenticity from the Ludeke Gallery. Excellent condition.
