Johnny Friedlaender (German, 1912-1991), engraving with aquatint. 8" X 6", #47 of 135. Pencil signed. Friedlaender born in Pless, Upper Silesia in 1912, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Breslau. In 1930, went to live in Dresden, where his art was severely criticized by the Hitler regime. In 1935, he went to Czechoslovakia. There he held his first one-man show of graphics. In 1937, he established himself in Paris and later became a French citizen. He has since exhibited in Roven, Nuremburg, Salzburg, Zurich, Geneva, Romse, Amsterdam, Sao Paulo, Bogold, Toronto, and New York. He was awarded the prize of the Biennate of Tokyo in 1957 and the Prix Noir et Blanc in Lugano in 1958. Fine condition.
