Spurs belonging to Jesse James

These spurs were found in a trunk which belonged to the notorious outlaw Jesse James. The items listed in this auction as well as five antique firearms were found in an around the trunk which was hidden in a barn on Jesse's Uncle's farm near Stamping Grounds, Kentucky. The trunk remained hidden in a dark corner under a deteriorating pile of hay for over 110 years before its discovery in 1998. These items are now up for sale in separate lots. Please contact us for further information, more detailed descriptions, terms of sale, etc.

The size and type of this spur are a match to Jesse's less dominant frame, and his favorite style of spur. They were discovered also in the trunk, along with a pair of boots. However, before the owner knew of the significance of the contents of the trunk, the boots were thrown out! To turn the spurs and listen to their distinct sound, makes one feel as if you can hear him walking.

Condition: The leather straps are only slightly pliable. One is missing a strap and buckle. The metal has some surface rust only, but is primarily intact. The spurs are intact and still spin freely.
