RARE SIMON & HALBIG CHARACTER FROM THEIR ROMAN NUMERAL SERIES OF DOLLS. Marks: Simon & Halbig S & H I. 16". Bisque socket head, blue sleep eyes, painted lashes, tapered brows, pierced ears, closed mouth, shaded and accented lips, defined cheeks with dimples, original light brown mohair wig, composition ball-jointed body, stamped on back in red "01/0", provincial costume of green felt with embroidered trim and apron, patterned bodice, necklace, newer brown leather shoes, black faille hat. Commentary: Exceedingly rare doll, (models of IV are more commonly found), has exquisite character modeling, finest quality bisque and decoration, excellent body with original finish, factory dress and underclothing, original wig.
