Accompanied by the original transmittal envelope with “autopenned” free frank: “Edith Bolling Wilson”. Addressed to Mrs. Charles Noble of Lake Charles, Louisiana, thanking her for a gift: “My dear ‘Miss Tap’ / Indeed I do ‘love them’ as much as you do and are enjoying them more than I can say - It was like you to think of giving me pleasure... Was en route ... and they were rejoicing - but I know you hated to give her up - It was so nice to find you and Mr. Noble in Chicago, and I hope some time we can welcome you to Washington!”
