December 7, 1775, 2 Shillings 8 Pence, “SWORD IN HAND” issue, Paul Revere Engraved, About Fine.
This historic Paul Revere design of the reverse side shows a Colonial Massachusetts “Minuteman” holding his militia sword in his outstretched left hand and a copy of the MAGNA CHARTA in his right. A curved motto above reads: “Issued in defence of American Liberty”. An attractive example of this popular and rare Paul Revere Engraved issue, which was commissioned by the State Treasury. Some old scattered expert repairs, including the restored corner areas, the signature has faded. This note has a Treasury redemption due date of December 7, 1781, being when all of these notes were supposed to be redeemed and destroyed. Thus, they are quite rare. A very collectable example of this famous Paul Revere, historic Revolutionary War issue.
