Phillip Rantzer was born in 1956 in Romania. He immigrated to Israel in 1960. In 1979-81 he studied at the Art Teachers' College, then in Ramat Hasharon, Israel. Later he taught sculpture at the Haifa University and decorative designs for theatre and cinema.
Prizes: in 1988 won the honorary Ministry of Education Prize for Young Artist; in 1989 the Beatrice Kolliner Prize, Israel Museum, Jerusalem; in 1990 the Minister of Education Prize for Painting and Sculpture; in 1993-94 America-Israel Cultural Foundation; in 1994 the Minister of Education Prize for Completion of Work; in 1997 the Mendel and Eve Pondick Prize for Israeli Art.
Rantzer lives and works in Tel Aviv .
