A spectacular pair of 18th Century antique Mughal Earrings from India set with a dazzling array of natural gems and fine diamonds.These earrings are an original pair of antique Indian earrings and not a reproduction.The drop is handmade from solid 22K yellow gold. The hooks are a replacement to the originals being themselves solid 18K yellow gold. The original gold fittings once sat in the middle of each gem set earring at the back with very exceedingly thick posts. These posts so thick of the period they were altered to wear without stretching the ear lobe or hole.Together the pair weigh 20.98 grams.Each gorgeous earring measures 1 3/4" long including the shepherds hook fitting and 13/16" wide approximately. The antique gem set drop without the ear fittings measures approximately 1 3/16" long from the top to the bottom (44mm x 21mm, 30mm).The set gems are all natural and are cut as cabochons for the most part. They have each been traditionally set with foil backs. These gems include old cut diamonds, natural red coral, natural salt water pearls, natural emeralds, vivid red natural rubies, natural sapphires in yellow and orange and finally but not least iolite.The gems match for color across both earrings.The reverse and sides of the earrings is decorated with hand enamel work and hand engraved meenakari work.

To mention for accuracy is some wear to the enamel depicted in the photos. At the top of one earring there is some tarnish from fingers holding the earrings to take them on and off as the foil backings to genuinely antique gem set jewels are fragile we did not remove this. As these features show quite clearly these earrings are not reproduction but rather a museum quality original 19th century pair.
