The 4-handle storage jar represented the pinnacle of grace and symmetry in utilitarian antebellum stoneware; Thomas Chandler being the most skilled of the Edgefield District potters; piece most likely from Chandler's Kirksey Crossroads site; circa 1850; wonderful celadon runs; slip decorated with flower and swag with flowers being placed between the handles; repairs to handles, rim, and base; r; 19 1/4"H; 50" in circumference
