Two 1/6 plate daguerreotypes of women. Lot 71-a depicts a woman with a lot of gold tinting. The lot is Grade 2, and in a half case in poor condition. Resealed. Lot 71-b is Grade 5, resealed and in a half case. Grading Key: Grade 6: Excellent condition. No mat abrasions, wipes or scratches. No haze or other visible issues from improper cleaning. Grade 5: Very good. Tiny mat abrasions possible but no scratches or wipes to speak of. Any haze, issues from cleaning or other blemishes are very minor. May include small mold spots. Grade 4: Good. Presence of noticeable mat abrasions, or small scratches on the plate possible. No wipes. May have noticeable areas of haze, issues from cleaning or other small blemishes. Grade 3: Fair. Image still clear and present. Mat abrasions or scratches on the plate may be large. Other issues may include easily noticeable wipes, haze or other defects from cleaning. Grade 2: Poor. Image is present on the plate, but condition issues represent a major distraction. Considerable and numerous scratches and/or wipes and mat abrasions are possible. Significant surface issues from cleaning may be present. Grade 1: Very Poor. Image may be severely faded, wiped or otherwise disrupted from improper handling. Numerous wipes, scratches, abrasions or issues from cleaning.
