Byron Byron (George Gordon Noel, Lord) Fare Thee Well!, first edition, [one of 50 copies], drop-head title, 4pp., trimmed to 8vo size and with piece cut away from lower inner corner of first leaf (not affecting text), first leaf watermarked "J.Green 1815", [Wise I, p.110], [Privately Printed], 1816; bound after Hours of Idleness, first edition, half-title, [Wise I, p.7], crown 8vo, Newark, S.& J.Ridge, 1807, later half calf over marbled boards, spine gilt, 8vo. *** The first mentioned item is a legendary Byron rarity which Wise says "is practically impossible to acquire." Only 2 copies have appeared at auction in the last 30 years (1993 and 1979), the earlier copy, as this, bound with another work by Byron to an 8vo size. Only 50 copies were privately printed and distributed by John Murray in April 1816, and at the time of Wise's bibliography "only some three or four copies [are at present] known to exist." The second mentioned work is Byron's second published work and the copy offered is of the first issue with p.114 line 4 "thnnder" and on p.181, penultimate line, "The" misprinted as "Thc" (both errors being corrected in the succeeding demy 8vo edition
