O/C Gen'l Pershing by Douglas Volk ((American, 1856-1935) depicts Gen'l Pershing as in WWI, dated 1920. Condition: numerous, scattered losses, the largest being 3/4" x 1/2"; poorly done inpainting, should remove easily; needs reline. Douglas Volk or Stephen A. Douglas Volk (1856 - 1935) was an American portrait painter and the son of noted sculptor Leonard Volk. He was named after his mother's cousin (Abraham Lincoln's political rival) Stephen A. Douglas. A member of the National Academy of Design with a long list of exhibitions and prizes. Works held by numerous museum including West Point. He was known for his portraits.
