Description
Greece, Campanian, ca. 4th Century B.C. Each side with an owl with head turned frontally facing, framed by two olive branches, on a reserved groundline, with two handles attached below the rim. Examples of this type were manufactured in both Apulia, South Italy and Athens, Greece. 2-5/8" (6.6cm).
Provenance: ex. O.P Collection. Acquired in the European art market, 90s. Formerly in a French Private Collection, prior to 1970s. Ref: Christie's, London, 25 October 2007, sale 7521, no. 249, for similar.
