A Moche Stirrup Vessel Of Owl Warrior
From northern Peru, ca 500 to 600 AD. Pottery vessel depicting the demon god Ai Apec in the form of an owl warrior. Holding deadly mace in right hand, poited headdress, fanged smile and wearing winged cape to rear - remains of yellow pigment on headdress. 7-1/2"H.
Provenance: Ex-private AZ collection.
In good condition with spout broken and repaired, breaks still showing - but still quite attractive!
