GAINSBOROUGH DUPONT (BRITISH 1754-1794), "Portrait of a Lady," oil on canvas, 76.2 x 63.5 cm (30 x 25 in.) PROVENANCE: American Art Association - Anderson Galleries, Inc., New York, Auction of February 20, 1930, Lot 88 (original auction label attached to the reverse). The image of the Lady in this painting is very similar to that of another Gainsborough Dupont painting of Queen Charlotte (ex-Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz) sold at Sotheby's sale from the Royal House of Hanoveron October 6, 2005, Lot 580, at the Schloss Marienburg in Nordstemmen, Germany.
