BEAUTIFUL SONNEBERG BISQUE DOLL BY MYSTERY MAKER - ALL-ORIGINAL. Marks: 4. 13". Bisque socket head with slant-cut pate opening in the French manner, blue paperweight eyes, rose-blushed eyelids, painted lashes, multi-feathered brows, pierced ears, closed mouth with white space between pale outlined lips, original blonde mohair wig over cork pate, wood and composition jointed body, one-piece arms, attached ball joints at hips, separate ball joints at knees, original factory chemise, burgundy and ivory woven cotton frock with black velvet trim and lace edging, burgundy velvet bonnet, dark leather shoes. Commentary: Circa 1885 doll made in Sonneberg to compete with the French trade. Lovely example which mirrors the modeling of the early portrait Jumeau, finest quality bisque and decoration; slight scuff on finger tips, otherwise excellent original body with original finish. Note: One of Kathy's favorite dolls as depicted in her original oil painting.
