Description

Victorian stoneware jug, baluster form with naturalistic branch handle, decorated in applied white relief with vine leaves and grapes on a blue ground, moulded marks, Minton, 1846. Society of Arts Prize Jug 1846, No. 301. M & Co. May 26,1846. Deep cobalt dip has orange peel texture, nice bits of iron frit show in the white relief. Chipped outer edge of rim. Faint 1/2" hairline on rim. Small 'spider web' inside bottom only. 8" H x 8" W x 7" diameter. 3.5 lbs.
