Edgefield district South Carolina stoneware jar

attributed to Rev. John Landrum Pottery, Horse Creek Valley, Edgefield District, S.C. and most probably a slave piece. The jar was used for storing lard or meat, has an alkaline glaze and two lug handles. The piece is marked with four slash marks near the foot.
