Framed miniature portraits, 1ST Item: watercolor on ivory, of Anna Hayes Robertson. Subject is a young woman with dark hair and pearl necklace, wearing white lace empire-style gown with green brooch and rose-colored shawl. Anna Hayes Robertson (b. 1790, d. after 1860) was the daughter of Sir John McNamara Hayes and Lady Anne (White) Hayes, and the granddaughter of Henry White and Eva Van Cortlandt White of New York (see related lots in this sale). Gilded frame has some loss to molding and areas of repainting. Portrait is in very good condition. Oval Image: 3 5/8" H x 3" W; Frame; 9 1/4" H x 8 3/4" W. 2ND Item: Framed portrait miniature, watercolor on ivory, of a gentleman with curly gray hair and dark coat. Condition: cracks to ivory in two places, extending through the image. Oval image: 2-1/2" W x 3" H; Frame: 4-1/4" W x 4-1/2" H. Probably British, early 19th century. Provenance: Collection of Reverend Henry Munro Bruen, Knoxville, TN, descendant of the subject.
