Description
Three piece gilt bronze girandole garniture set with snowflake prisms, "Daniel Boone" pattern. Center girandole depicting figures from James Fenimore Cooper's "Leather Stocking Tales " and commonly associated with Daniel Boone. The flanking girandoles feature an Osage Indian Chief holding a spear, modeled after a Catlin portrait print. Center girandole marked on back "Cornelius & Co." with patent date, December 5, 1848. Overall very good condition with expected wear to gilt and prisms. Some prisms missing. Center girandole measures 21-1/2" H x 16-1/4" W x 4" D. Flanking girandoles measure 16" H x 6-1/2" W x 4-1/2" D. Mid 19th century.
