Chinoiserie secretary-bookcase, two part construction, mahogany primary wood with painted raised polychrome Asian decorations. Top section features broken arch pediment and three flame finials, two arched paneled doors opening to reveal a fitted interior with ten cubbyholes having shaped and gilt-outlined valances (three in concave fan sections), over two rows of shelves and four small drawers. Bottom section features a fall front desk with fitted interior having 8 cubbyholes with shaped and gilt-outlined valances, over four short drawers and two long drawers, divided by a prospect door edged in gilt with gold crane and wisteria motif, shield escutcheon. Finished wood writing section. Four full-width drawers with pierced brass batwing style pulls over a shaped skirt and elaborately shaped bracket feet, decorated with a gilt lattice design.
