Description

Middle Kingdom, XII Dynasty ca 1971 B.C. Rare and very early green glazed steatite scaraboid with decorative top. Reverse side has glyphs that read "Nub Nefer Ankh Nefer Ankh." Nub is glyph at the bottom, means happiness, richness & gold. Nefer is symbol of beauty, and Ankh is symbol of life. Translates to: "Long life, beauty and happiness to the wearer." 20 mm x 15 mm.

Provenance: Ex-Philip Mitry collection, a noted antiquities dealer selling out of Cairo in the 1950s.
