Description
Egypt, XXVth Dynasty, Ca. 646 to 525 BC. Architectural shaped wood magical shrine inlaid and inscribed with a large ancient blue glass heart scarab, painted with wings and on top of a barge; symbolic for a protective journey. A two line hieroglyphic inscription is below and architectural detailing. Reverse has a later antique period repainted scene. Size: 3-5/8" wide x 5-1/2" high + custom mounted.
PROVENANCE: Ex-private collection of Mrs. Elias-Vaes, Rotterdam, NL, acquired in the 1960s or early 1970s.
