Egypt, Ca. 3rd century BC. Constructed from fine Nile clay, this mould is for the top half of an Egyptian oil lamp. It features a high peaked handle, round body and elongated rounded nozzle, the concave discus featuring the fine and delicate features of the goddess Hathor with bovine ears, and bordered by a band of stylized horns symbolizing the goddess. Dimensions: length, 4-1/2 inches (11.4 centimeters).
