From ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, ca. 650 to 300 BC. Lovely, small fragment of an outer mummy cartonnage painted gesso over linen; with nice clear image of standing god Anubis – the jackal – in shades of red, green, blue and gold. Custom lucite frame. Fragment itself measures 6"H x 3"W; with stand 7-1/2"H.
