Description
American William and Mary highboy, c.1760, with a molded cornice above a split drawer over three drawers, all resting on a base with three drawers, trumpet turned legs and flat stretcher base. 65"h.x37.5"w.x22"d.
Condition
We do not believe the top case and bottom case are married, the backboards, dovetailing and drawers are consistent- the legs and stretcher base are replaced. There is no visible history of any other brasses, but we find it hard to believe they are original. There are Quaker locks which lead us to believe it is not New England, unless there are instances of Quaker locks on New England furniture that we may not be aware of. It is a nice looking piece and tight. Any condition statement is given as a courtesy to a client, is only an opinion and should not be treated as a statement of fact. Wiederseim Associates, Inc. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging.
