Barbara Kruger studied at Parson's School of Design in New York under Diane Arbus and Marvin Israel (at the time the Art Director of Harper's Bazaar). Her studies and her teachers gave her a solid basis for her post-modern experimentation. Her art confronts text and photography in a provocative way, demystifying the popular visual language, yet simultaneously questioning money, war and challenging the American way of life in general. For her work she uses all different kinds of media: Books, T-shirts, posters and, her most visual and spectacular media (the one that made her famous), billboards. This image was used to promote an exhibition Photographers + Friends United Against Aids and raise money for AIDs research. According to Fotofolio Editions only 1900 were printed.
