(1776) Undated, $8, “Man Holding Cane” vignette, Extremely Fine.
An impressive looking note and of a highly distinctive design and vignette. Printed in both red and black having three full margins, the top border being slightly irregular and partially touching into the outer border design. One pinhole, otherwise nice and clean with strong red and black printing and a sharply detailed vignette, having the words “EIGHT & DOLLARS” in bold red above and below. Five exceptional dark rich brown ink signatures, the serial number having been written in the same hand as that of the Newman plate note for this issue.
