Large archive of photographs, documents, letters, and other ephemera covering the personal life of Lawrence Tibbett. Collection includes: well over (100) vintage photographs documenting Lawrence Tibbett's personal and professional life, the majority being 8" x 10" personality portraits; (15) oversize vintage photographs of Tibbett, a few being photographer-signed; large file of memos, contracts, proposals, etc. concerning construction of the home at 933 Rexford Drive, Beverly Hills; small binder filled with invitations to society events; and (2) larger binders filled with personal letters from Tibbett to his wife and son Richard, exhibiting much Sturm and Drang of an absentee celebrity husband and father. Of particular interest are a number of early small snapshots including an art pose of Tibbett fully nude. Without question a definitive document of the personal life of one of America's greatest home-grown Opera stars and popular entertainers.
