Description
Howard Hawks' personal Keybook still set (minus Louise Brooks images) for the 1928 A Girl in Every Port with 100+ stills. (Fox Film Corp., 1928) Best remembered now for its fairly brief, yet thoroughly incandescent appearance of Louise Brooks as a circus acrobat, one of many, many girls which the sailor protagonists, Victor McLaglen and Robert Armstrong meet and greet (and often much more) in their travels from port to port. Historically, its significance lies more in being the first (of many to follow) "buddy films" or "Bromances" as they are now called, which are directed by Howard Hawks. This keybook set of over (100) custom textured, deckle-edge silver bromide double-weight matte 7" x 9" prints from Howard Hawks' personal archive is loaded with images not only of the boys and their travels, but of far greater interest are dozens of exceptional and often surprisingly sexy portraits and scenes of the girls around the world, including (11) of Myrna Loy as an Asian temptress, plus Sally Rand, Maria Alba, and too many others to list here. Please note, the Louise Brooks images are offered separately elsewhere in this auction.
