Description
Howard Hawks' personal Keybook still set for the 1932 Scarface with 200+ stills, in Hawks' gilt-embossed binder. (United Artists, 1932) The gangster film which set the mark for all others to follow it, an exciting film that holds up to this very day and is one of the true masterpieces of the illustrious career of director Howard Hawks. From his personal archive comes this monumental original keybook in Hawks' personalized binder of over (200) gelatin-silver vintage 8" x 10" glossy prints, mounted to the display album pages back to back (which has caused some waving from adhesive shrinkage, but stills themselves are in generally Fine condition). Every conceivable aspect of the film is represented here, including previously unseen exceptional portraits of Paul Muni in character, plus an assortment of sexy Pre-Code images of the women in the film, Ann Dvorak and Karen Morley. The majority of images in the keybook include Muni and key scenes, occasionally including co-stars Boris Karloff and George Raft, not primarily set scenes or continuity shots as is often the case with keybooks. (Condition note: binder has long ago lost its posts and is secured with wire, and a handful of stills are loose.)
