Description
Barbary Coast collection of (100+) vintage stills from the personal archive of Howard Hawks. (United Artists, 1935) Howard Hawks replaced fledgling director William Wyler for this costume-drama action story, which Samuel Goldwyn ordered to be written from merely owning the rights to the title words alone. Stars Edward G. Robinson, Miriam Hopkins, and Joel McCrea turn in respectable performances, but the film shines in offering the first meaty appearances for characters Walter Brennan and Brian Donlevy. From Howard Hawks personal archive comes this keybook in Hawks' personalized, gilt-embossed leather binder, containing (100+) vintage silver-bromide double-weight custom 8" x 10" matte prints, which have thankfully all come loose from their pages, leaving only adhesive residue on verso without damage to front. A completely comprehensive range of images documenting the entire film storyline.
