Item Details
Description
RKO Pictures main title opening camera logo art. Tempera and airbrush on 22 ½ in. x 32 in. 4-ply illustration board, being the camera logo art shot during the opening credit sequence for most RKO Pictures films from 1929-1957. It features the company's famous trademark, the spinning globe and radio tower, nicknamed the "Transmitter," which was inspired by a 200 ft. tall tower built in Colorado for a giant Tesla coil. Orson Welle's referred to the design as his "favorite among the old logos, not just because it was so often a reliable portent…It reminds us to listen" [David Thomson, The Story of Orson Welles]. Excellent condition, exhibiting a 1 in. creased tear at the right edge and ½ in. tear at the lower edge. Hand-painted celluloid overlay is a reproduction to complete the display. Housed in an archival frame.
