CARL WILHELM KAHLO or GUILLERMO KAHLO (German-Mexican 1871-1941) Two vintage photographs First Quarter Twentieth Century "Iglesia de la Merced" and "Coyoacán Cancel del Atriode la Parroquia" The first: 14 x 11 inches (35.6 x 27.9 cm); the second: 13 3/4 x 10 1/2 inches (34.9 x 26.7 cm) Carl Wilhelm Kahlo was a German photographer and father of artist Frida Kahlo. He first visited Mexico in 1901 and subsequently set up a photographic studio working for "El Mundo Ilustrado" and "Semanario Ilustrado". Then commissioned by the government to do architectural photographs these two are examples. He also took photographs of churches with other photographers for a six-volume survey in the 1920s.
