30. [GRAVE ROBBERY IN ANDOVER] Original imprint entitled "A Sermon On The Occasion of Reinterring The Coffins Which Had Been Robbed of Their Contents," 40pp, 5¼"x8½", printed by Flagg and Gould, Andover, 1848. In the aftermath of a series of eight grave robberies "for anatomical purposes," the citizens of Andover passed resolutions of their "abhorrence of the deed" and offering a reward of $500 for the perpetrators. Additionally, authorization was given to reintur the empty coffins and the minister of the parish was requested "to deliver a discourse, suited to the occasion..." Contained in the pamphlet is the sermon of Rev. Robert Crowell. Text is crisp and very clear. Wrappers lacking; occasional light foxing; light general toning; else VG. Est: $125-150
