German-born American physicist and Nobel laureate (1922), the most well-known 20th century scientist, using his influence to promote pacifism and Zionism. Signature at bottom of excellent printed LS in German, 4pp, small 8vo, [Pasadena, Feb 2, 1933]. Being a reprint of a letter on Athenaeum letterhead sent by Einstein to Mrs. Lindheim. On recto is imprint "A Message From Prof. Albert Einstein To the Friends of Palestine." The second leaf is typed English translation of Einstein's letter. "...I gladly accept your invitation. I consider most necessary the formation of Leagues in this country for the Labor groups in Palestine. For the Labor group is not only the very soul of the upbuilding work, but it is the one real effective bridge between Jews and Arabs. Therefore the support of the Labor group means the strengthening and the fortifying of the political position of the whole Jewish people of Palestine..."
