Foremost 19th century Russian composer whose works include the symphony Romeo and Juliet (1869), the ballets Swan Lake (1877) and The Nutcracker (1892), and the opera Eugene Onegin (1879). Signed cabinet card, a quarter-length portrait vignette, 5½"x8½". Boldly signed at bottom image beneath inscription, adding date "Jan 9, 1887," the year he began several highly successful concert tours in Europe and the United States. Russian attribution imprint at bottom mount and on verso. Only a little faded; light soiling; else VG/Fine example. Est: $3000-5000
