766. EDVARD GRIEG (1843-1907). Norwegian composer and pianist who wrote the score to Ibsen's Peer Gynt in 1876, along with several other orchestral pieces, suites, concertos and sonatas. Several of his works were built from the folk songs of his native Norway. ALS, 1p, large 4to, Norway, Oct 10, 1898. "The essay on Mozart you mentioned was written for the Century Magazine (November 1897) and published in Samtiden without authorization. It wasn't possible to consent to this as I had sold the rights to the American magazine.
